Sir,

Goverment House

Hongkong, 4th. December, 1903.

151

I have the honour to transmit for your

consideration the enclosed copy of a letter from the Director

of Public Works regarding an application which he has received

from the Hongkong and Whanno a Dock Company for an extension

of their property at Hunghom in connection with their Electric

Power plant.

2.

I approve of the proposals of the Director

of Public Works (with the exception that the land should in

my opinion be granted as a new and separate lot and not as an

extension to the Company's existing property which is held

under a 999 years lease) and have the honour to recommend them

for your favourable consideration. As the Dock Company own

all the property to the East of Hill Street the closing of the

portions of Hill Street and Bulkeley Street shown on the plan

attached to the Director of Public Works' letter can be effect-

ed without interfering with the rights of others provided that

condition (c) mentioned in Mr. Chatham's letter is imposed.

This will keep open the space between the area marked pink

and the house numbered 66 to give access from Bulkeley Street

to the houses Nos. 21, 22, and 23 in Market Street.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ALFRED LYTTELTON, M.P..
